All ferrets left North Halifax Ferret Rescue with an adoption form, which was be read, agreed to, and signed, a copy was kept by both parties.

When the ferret could not be kept for a reason, it was returned to North Halifax Ferret Rescue.

In case of sickness, accident or any other reason, where a vet deems it necessary to euthanize the ferret, North Halifax Ferret Rescue was notified.

Ferrets had to have appropriate accommodation/housing and it must have been spacious enough for the ferret to move about in easily. Home checks were done to ensure that the accommodation was suitable.

Ferrets not already neutered were to be done as soon as possible.
All ferrets were to get prompt veterinary care/treatment when required.

All ferrets were to be given an appropriate diet, with care being taken to avoid obesity, underweight.

It was strongly advised that junk food, or salty food, etc. was avoided.
Although adopters could be given a fact sheet on ferrets, we recommended that more knowledge was gained via the Internet, or books.

North Halifax Ferret Rescue asked questions.

This was not done out of nosiness.
If you found these terms daunting, please consider that North Halifax Ferret Rescue had to be reasonably sure, that a ferret, once adopted out, went to a caring knowledgeable home, with the ferret's best interests at heart and who would care for and love it for the rest of its life. And if it could not be kept, that it came back to North Halifax Ferret Rescue.

Some ferrets came from less than ideal homes.

Once they came to North Halifax Ferret Rescue, it was our duty to ensure that they had a happy life, either at North Halifax Ferret Rescue, or with caring new owners.
